Being Scottish and the child of a grain merchant, I basically have oats running through my veins. My kitchen is a shrine to porridge—I have kilos of the stuff, and we eat it constantly. To keep things interesting (and prevent oat-related mutiny), I’m always trying new ways to jazz it up.

One night, after finally wrestling the kids into bed, I had a deep, soul-level craving for an entire apple pie. But, disaster—I had no butter, and it was 9 p.m.

Enter Air Fryer Apple Pie Oatmeal—my go-to when I need something sweet. With caramelized, spiced apples and creamy oatmeal, it’s basically apple pie in a bowl, minus the guilt (or the effort). Roasting the apples in the air fryer makes them extra delicious, so whether it’s morning, night, or a post-bedtime snack attack, this dish always hits the spot!

FAQS

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes! You can prepare the oatmeal and air-fried apples separately and store them in the fridge for up to 3 days. When ready to eat, reheat the oatmeal with a splash of milk in the microwave and warm up the apples in the air fryer or microwave for a few seconds before serving.

Can I use a different fruit instead of apples?

Absolutely! Pears, peaches, or even berries work well as substitutes. If using softer fruits like berries, reduce the air fryer cooking time to about 5 minutes to prevent them from becoming too mushy.
